Pre planning has become more popular in recent years and allows a person yet one more decision in life and that is how they will be handled in death. ~ Pre planning can be simply notifying us that you desire to have yours services handled by our funeral home and sharing vital information with us that will be needed at the time of death along with what kind of service you would like to have. ~ You may also decide to look at and select merchandise be it a casket outer interment receptacle or an urn or urn vault. ~ Lastly you have the option to pay in advance for your funeral. This money is then set aside in a burial trust account in your name and in New York State can only be used by the funeral home at the time of death. At Caywood’s we also offer a structured way of saving money in your own pre need account over time. You send in your payment monthly, which goes into your account and allows you to pay in advance. You may also decide to use an insurance policy which will be used toward services at the time of death. Not all funeral homes guarantee their charges not to increase over time. WE DO IN WRITING. We guarantee our services facilities and merchandise charges. This takes the worry out of future cost for your loved ones. We also assist families in transferring their pre need accounts over to Caywood’s and we will honor all existing agreements providing you have the original paper work. Even if your current agreement is not price guaranteed when you transfer it to Caywood’s it will be. The most important thing you can do is make your wishes known to your family. At Caywood’s we explain to families that should death occur away from home you should always call your hometown funeral home who will be handling the services. Many times a family could have saved a great deal of cost had they simply contacted their hometown funeral home. We can handle all the aspects of returning a loved one back to Southport from anywhere in the world. Our constant obligation is to keep cost within reason. A family should never have to be short changed on service because of finances.
